Self Challenge Shooting DrillThis basketball shooting drill will improve your shooting:
This drill requires the basketball shooter or shooter’s coach to identify and list the pre-shot movements and the basketball shots that the basketball shooter is usually called upon to make during games. For example, below the explanatory portion of this article and the diagram is a list of moves and basketball shots for a point guard whose frequent area of play is near the top of the key.
When the list is complete the basketball shooter sets a success requirement for each basketball shot which is to be met before the shooter may move from one basketball shot to the next. For example the basketball shooter may set a percentage requirement of making 4 out of a successive 6 shots or a streak requirement of making 3 basketball shots in a row before earning the opportunity to move to the next basketball shot on the list. The drill is completed only after the basketball shooter has successfully achieved the success requirement for each basketball shot. Success in this drill is based upon performance rather than time. Consequently, its use in team practice may require modification such as using only one of the listed moves and basketball shots. If a time limit expires prior to successful completion another opportunity for success may be implemented by having the player complete the drill with a successful lay up from each side of the basket.
